This is a tourist town of course and so that means some things are designed to keep tourists at bay. The gallery and museum is $10 entry per adult. There is a daily walking tour of the whole town that takes place at 1.30pm everyday from the visitors centre (costing $23). There is mostly wheelchair access for those that need it. Lots of the buildings will be out of bounds unless you’re on a tour – which is not much use to artists anyway.
Later in the day there is an event :
New Norcia’s 16th Annual Ecumenical Ceremony
3rd January 2009
You are warmly invited to the Benedictine Community of New Norcia’s 16th Annual Ecumenical Ceremony with Carols, featuring the Georgian Singers, conducted by John Beaverstock. I heard this choir at a carols event on the 21st and they were very good. They could provide an interesting sketching experience for us.
