Lazy moon

I have been a bit lazy because I have been only sending out information about what’s happening by email lately. Make sure you sign on for receiving the email if you’re interested in going to safaris. I’ll try and keep some simple posts going here for good measure though from now on.

The night safari to Ren’s place was very good and Lesmurdie Falls turns out to be a very suitable venue for drawing by moonlight. This makes me think that some of the other hills locations like the Boya Quarry might be good by moonlight as well. Also for a brief period after sunset the drawing is also excellent. Ren was the official timekeeper this last time and set a cracking agenda of 5 and ten minute sketches. Jeff

Mea Culpa

I’ve been a bit busy lately doing portraits so I haven’t got around to organising any outing. This might go on for a while yet (Where are you Ren?). Still there might be a social outing to the Art Gallery soon.  Also I’m planning a serious (for me) urban landscape drawing project in Midland which anyone can come along to.  If you want to find out about all these things then going on to the email list might be the best way to at the moment.

a note on frottage

It has been gleefully pointed out to me that frottage has a rather different meaning – at least outside the realms of art. I’ll let the gentle reader find it out for themselves. For the speculation about whether I am a New Zealander and consequently have  odd affections for sheep – it is not true; although I would have to say that Hamish is a particularly lovable specimen of the breed. Given that the technique of frottage was popularised by the  French Surrealists I suspect that it’s addtional meaning may have provided those artists some extra frisson. Jeff

Disruptions

This blog is going to be erratic for a while so if you are interested in what is happening it might be a good idea to just  call     0402563841 and see if there is going to be a safari.

Christmas Hiatus

Nothing much gets organised this time of year,  so we’ll do that for a while. I will probably go out to do some spots myself during this period, but not in an official safari capacity. I’ve got in mind the cathedral in perth near the RPH and also a point overlooking the river. I’ll post the times when I’m going there if anyone wants to show up.
